'Vampire Diaries': Pivotal dialogue line missing from 'The Descent' episode

January 28, 2011 - While the new episode of The Vampire Diaries, The Descent, was a great start to the second half of the season, we couldn't help but notice the absence of one piece of very pivotal dialogue from the trailer.

In the long-running promo trailer for Thursday's episode, Rose (Lauren Cohan) is seen lying in Damon's (Ian Somerhalder) bed as she talks to Elena (Nina Dobrev) about the two Salvatore brothers.

While Elena sits on the edge of the bed with the werewolf-bitten vampire, Rose tells her something that is one of the main plot points in the storyline of the show.

"I care about Damon, but I love Stefan." Elena said, and Rose knowingly tells her, "It's ok, you know... to love them both."

As all fans know, this is very telling, as it's the first time that it has been said out loud that Elena loves both Damon and Stefan (Paul Wesley).

However, when watching the episode (twice) that dialogue bit is nowhere to be found in the episode... The two girls just talk about Rose's hometown near London, and Elena tells her she'll be alright.

After Rose's sense of reality is lost, then we get into the scenes where she tries to attack Elena because she thinks she's Katherine. Rose doesn't return to Damon's bed until the end of the show, so we thought, ok maybe this is when the this dialogue line will come up.

The Vampire Diaries: The Complete First SeasonBut, only Rose and Damon are in that scene, where he ends up (very sadly) staking her, and obviously this missing dialogue does not take place then either.

So, was it taken out on purpose? What do you think? Sound off below!
