March 23, 2011 - Lindsay Lohan insists on her innocence in the jewelry theft case against her, and wants to go to trial, however, this decision means she may be facing prison.
The preliminary hearing is set for April 22 and has been assigned to Judge Stephanie Sautner, who is known to be a tough judge.
Lindsay was given the option to accept a plea deal, which could mean jail time, for about 19 days, as well as three years probation. But, according to TMZ, Lindsay says she's innocent and is willing to take the risk.

If she's found guilty, the Mean Girls star she could get up to a year in prison, and worse, she could even get jail for violating her probation before the trial even began.
The troubled starlet maintains she did not steal a necklace from a Los Angles jewelry store, that she only borrowed it.
Lindsay claims that when the store said the necklace was missing she realized she had forgotten to return it and had her stylist bring it to the L.A. Police Dept.

The store said they do not lend jewelry as per their policy and that the $2,500 necklace was stolen. They even made a surveillance tape available that showed Lindsay in the store trying on the necklace and walking out of the store with it.
